1st week of Kindergarten :)

1st week of Kindergarten :)

We had a great first day!  This is our first official Newsletter!  Thank you for taking the time to read it. J  Each newsletter will inform you of what our class will be doing for the upcoming week.  It will also tell you if we have any special projects or activities for the week and if there are any important RES events happening.  Normally you will receive the Newsletter on FRIDAYS.




*Identifying, writing, and doing activities with our FIRST name.  Help your child write their name “Kindergarten Style” (see attached paper).  This paper does not need to be turned in to me.

*Having “Show and Tell” on Wednesday (Girls) and Friday (Boys).  Suggestions:  beach, ocean, your summer vacation.

*Practicing cutting, tracing, coloring, and printing.

*Reading many new books and answering comprehension questions about these books.

*Rhyming activities

*Identifying, writing, and doing activities with the following shapes:  circle, triangle, square, rectangle, and oval.

*Counting orally from 0-10.

*Doing activities with POSITIONAL WORDS.

*Learning The Pledge of Allegiance and recognizing the American Flag.

*Working on listening skills, following directions, class rules, and getting along with each other.  *Making new friends!

*Doing activities with the colors RED, BLUE, PURPLE, and YELLOW.  **During our unit on colors, your child may wear the “color of the day” to school.  Color days are as follows: Tuesday=red, Wednesday=blue Thursday= purple Friday=yellow.  Be sure to help your child wear the appropriate color each day (if possible).

*Instructional Fee due.  ($10.00).





*Check your child’s book bag daily!

*Ride the bus!  Be here by 8:05.

*Label all money!

*Wear “P.E. appropriate” shoes EVERYDAY!

*Send your child’s folder and agenda to school everyday!

*Show and tell for girls every Wednesday and Boys every Friday

*Expect your child to be very tired for the first few weeks! 



I am truly looking forward to a great year! We had a GREAT first day in Kindergarten.  Please give your child a BIG HUG!!!
