Kindergarten and first grade classes have been learning about the “magic number three” in library classes.
The first week, we focused on how the number three continues to show up again and again in different versions of The Three Bears. Students noticed that there are usually…
- three bowls (or dishes of some sort)
- three chairs (or places to sit)
- three beds
- three rooms in the house (kitchen, living room, bedroom)
- three sizes (big, medium, small)
- three temperatures (hot, cold, just right)
- and of course, three bears (Papa, Mama & Baby)
Be sure to check out some of the many, many versions of this wonderful story and see if you can find ways that the author/illustrator incorporated the number three!
