Jones’s Language of Symbols

For this week we will continue our investigation of matrices, reviewing matrix multiplication again so that we understand which elements to multiply and then add for our product matrix.  From there, we will  learn how to determine the determinant for a 2×2 matrix and  then use  the inverse of a matrix.  Your homework for the week is:

• Monday (D1): Practice 4-1 through 4-3 Worksheet
• Tuesday (D2): Practice 4-3 Worksheet
• Wednesday (D1): Practice 4-3 Worksheet
• Thursday (D2): Practice 4-5 Worksheet; study for Quiz
• Friday (D1): Practice 4-5 Worksheet; study for Quiz

The Quiz will cover Chapters 4-1 through 4-3, reviewing matrix organization and interpretation, and matrix addition, subtraction, and multiplication while using the zero matrix and additive inverse matrix.  Also, you will receive your interims on Tuesday.  I will also print out your progress reports, which need a parent’s signature and turned in to me by the end of the week.  It will provide a breakdown of your Interim grade.  Any makeup or absent assignments need to be turned in to me this week to get credit or the “0″ grade will stay in place.
