GHS-SVA Assignments & Lesson Plans, Week # 5
Posted by: clong in Classes, This Week/Lessons/AssignmentsInterim grades are coming up! Students take home report cards on Thursday, September 24.
Friday, September 25 is early release day and a teacher work day.
Monday is a Day Two. Here are the lessons:
D2B1 – Art I – students continue to work on their Aboriginal Self-Portraits. i am very pleased with the initial results of their art. We should be completed with these on Friday at the end of class. THERE IS A QUIZ ON ABORIGINAL ART ON WEDNESDAY. STUDENTS HAVE BEEN GIVEN THEIR VOCABULARY HANDOUTS FOR THIS. As their project will not be completed by interim grading, each student will receive an “in progress” grade. They will receive a final grade once the project is completed. ALL SKETCHBOOKS ARE DUE TO ME on MONDAY for a final grade. There is no sketchbook assignment for this week.
D2B2 & B3 – Ceramics The Mythical Beasties have been bisque fired and the kiln unloaded. Today we will begin the glazing of our projects. Handout given on new terminology on glazing vocabulary and processes. Quiz on Wednesday on these processes. It takes one-two classes to complete the glazing, thus this final grade may not be posted in time for students to receive final project grade by the interim. There are three projects that we are in the process of completing – the bas relief sculptures, the mythical beasties and the multicultural masks. PARENTS!! Please do not be discouraged by your child’s interim grade. Please understand that it takes about 10 days for the projects to dry before they can be bisque fired. Then there is another final glaze firing. Due to the large classes this year, our drying and process time has been drastically altered. All of these grades plus at least two more project grades should be posted by the end of the MP 1.
Tuesday & Thursday D1B1 & B2 – Art II New Project: Figure Drawing. Students will view a video on the art of figure drawing. Tuesday we will begin process of gesture drawing and learning eye hand coordination for contour drawing. Standing poses and action poses. There will be two quizzes on this project and a portfolio of 3 different drawings. Please refer to last week for the overview of this unit. Expressive media – vine and compressed charcoal will be used.
D1B4- Ceramics. – Please refer to D2B2 above.
