Mrs. Glenda Hawk’s First LEGO League (FLL) Team – Granny Helpers – were as prepared and polished as everyone else who spoke Tuesday evening. Students told the School Board and the public about their recent experiences at the regional (where the team placed 1st) and state FLL competitions.
The team discussed the evolution of the robot they conceptualized, designed, and built to “make the lives of seniors easier.” (This product was in response to the prescribed team challenge.) Students described creativity and teamwork through every step of the process — and each spoke with confidence and compassion as the Board and the audience listened intently. The team’s presentation concluded with a standing ovation from the room.
Tuesday evening’s presentation was part of Dr. Lane’s initiative — “Reflections” — to have student-led presentations at each of our regular monthly School Board meetings.
The Granny Helpers: Kyle Blanchard, Aiden Dobbertin, Bria Hlavacek, Anthony Holland, Christian Lifsey, Jacob Neill, Austin Payne, J.D. Pendleton, Trinity Wonderling. The team was coached by Mr. Curman Payne & Dr. Richard Carchman.
