Home of the Champions

State finals in Division 2 football were held last Saturday in Salem, Virginia. Goochland High School was there to take on its competitor. Our families and fans showed up at the Salem stadium, and their support was evident throughout the game. The GHS band and cheerleaders participated in this exciting event too. As a school, we are very proud of our team and grateful for the support of the entire Goochland community.

┬áIt is an awesome experience to be named “state champion” in football. For GHS, this was the school’s second championship; the first occurring in 2006. The athletes and coaches distinguished themselves in earning this title. Personal and team commitment, determination and confidence grew through the season and proved stronger in the end than a simple wish for success.

Championship potential exists in every bulldog whether focused on athletics, academics or other pursuits. A strong belief about what you can accomplish is only the beginning. It is the commitment, determination, and persistence that pay off for each of us. A football championship is exciting; a lifetime of championship endeavors is thrilling.
