Math SOLs are Wednesday and Thursday
The last of our SOLs are this week. Math will be broken up into 2 days, Wednesday and Thursday. Students spent today rotating to the different 5th grade teachers to review key concepts. Students played games in small groups to review adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals.

Calling All Permission Slips
We have a lot of upcoming events that require permission slips.
1) Our field trip to Pamplin Park is THIS FRIDAY- If you haven’t, please send in the permission slip or a note saying your child won’t attend.
2) 4/5 Social is May 30th.
3) Family Life class is May 30th. Please return the form.
4)Graduation and YMCA forms (both sides).
4/5 Social
The 4/5 Social has been rescheduled for May 30th from 3:30-5:00. It will be sports themed, so wear your favorite team apparel. A permission slip will be sent home Tuesday, May 13th and will be due Monday, May 19th. We are looking for parent volunteers. If you are able to help out please email Beth Ferguson.

Language Arts:
Spelling- test will be on Friday. Please complete at least one spelling practice activity a night.
Writing- Our writing prompt will be a due a week from today.
Reading- We are starting new stories this week. We will have a test on these stories next Friday, May 9th. We will be looking at cause and effect relationships in these stories. There will be a “cold read” on Friday.
Math: We are finishing up patterns this week. Terms to know: repeating pattern, growing pattern, numerical pattern, geometric pattern, term. Please make sure to use t-charts to solve for growing patterns. There will be a test next Monday, May 5th. mathfrog.ca has some fun pattern games.
History: This is our last week of history. We will have our test on colonial America on Wednesday. It will be on the original settlements, 3 colonial regions, and the 6 types of people. Next week we will start reviewing 4th grade science to prepare for the upcoming science SOLs on May 15.
