3rd Grade Class News

December 1st

I hope that everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving Holiday.  We only have a few weeks until Christmas!

This week:

  • We will learn about adjectives and verbs.
  • We will continue to learn about synonyms and antonyms.
  • Making predictions, sequencing events, nouns, compound words, variations of irregular vowel sounds while reading.
  • We will finish learning about Greece, Rome and Mali.
  • We will continue to work on grammar skills such as using a capital letter at the beginning of each sentence, capitalizing proper nouns, using punctuation at the end of each sentence, etc.
  • Writing in cursive.
  • We will begin 6’s in multiplication.
  • Write a paragraph using a clear main idea and supporting details, proper indentation, capitalization of first word in each sentence, and making sure to stay on topic.
  • We will begin Simple Machines.
  • We will continue to learn about telling time to the minute and delayed time
  • We will use a calendar to determine a future date.

 

Homework/Reading Logs:  Great job making sure our reading homework is turned in on time.  Keep up the good work.

Book Orders:  A Scholastic Book Order for December will be sent home on Monday.  If you would like to place an order, please return the order form to me, or place your order online, by Friday, December 6th.

Week of November 17th

This week, all of our math homework will review concepts that we covered earlier in the year.  Specifically, our homework will cover rounding, place value, expanded form, multiplication and subtraction.  There will be no homework or newsletter next week.

This week, we are working on:

I will not be at school on Tuesday, November 18th.  I will be attending a funeral.  I also have a scheduled absence on Monday November 24th.

Week of November 10th

Thanksgiving and Grandparents day are coming soon.  The Third Grade classes will all get together for a Thanksgiving Feast.  More information will be coming home soon.

This week, we are working on:

*****Shalom Farms Field Trip!*****

We had a great time at Shalom Farms.  We spent the day pulling plants, learning about soil and making s’mores.

3rd Grade News

You Can Use

 

Monday, November 4th is a Student Holiday.  Parent Teacher Conferences are from 11 am – 7 pm.

This week, we are working on:

  • We will continue sequencing events/main idea, supporting details, Author’s Purpose – persuade, inform, entertain
  • We will learn about synonyms and antonyms.
  • We will continue to learn about Greece, Rome and Mali.
  • We will continue to work on grammar skills such as using a capital letter at the beginning of each sentence, capitalizing proper nouns, using punctuation at the end of each sentence, etc.
  • Writing in cursive.
  • We will continue to work on multiplication
  • Write a paragraph using a clear main idea and supporting details, proper indentation, capitalization of first word in each sentence, and making sure to stay on topic.
  • We will begin to learn about the components of soil.
  • We will begin to learn about telling time

 

*****Shalom Farms Field Trip!*****

This Friday, November 7th, we will go to Shalom Farms to learn about soil.  There is no cost for this trip.  Please return the permission form by Wednesday, November 5th.
