3rd Grade Class News

April 29th

Dear Parents,

Please send in your money for the zoo trip by Friday, May 3rd.  The cost is $6.00.  We will have a year end celebration on May 17th.  There will be a bouncy house from Benham’s Bounceables and lunch from Chick Fil A.  The total cost will be $5.00.  A sign up form will be sent home before the end of this week. 

What Will We Be Covering This Week?

We will:

  • Write numbers 0 – 30.
  • Finish learning about recycling and care of the Earth.
  • Learn about community helpers and what they do.
  • Continue to practice counting to 100.
  • Write our ABC’s, both upper and lower case.
  • Begin to learn subtraction concepts.
  • Write sentences, focusing on using an upper case letter at the beginning of each sentence and punctuation at the end.
  • Recognize sight words may, play, say, away, gray.
  • Read and decode the words on our Weekly Word List
  • Spring PALS testing begins this week.

Dear Parents,

The zoo field trip is coming SOON!  The date of the trip is Monday, May 6th, and the cost is $6.00.  If you have not sent in your money, please do so as soon as possible.  If you are planning to attend the trip with your child, please send in $6.00 for yourself as well.

Recycling Project:

Thank you for sending in your water bottles.  We are wrapping up our study and do not need anymore water bottles.

Counting to 100 by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s:

Please practice counting to 100 with your child each night.  Switch your format each night.  One night, practice counting to 100 by 1’s, the next night practice counting by 5’s and another night practice counting by 10’s.

Go Dog Go!

Today we read Go Dog Go and discussed the ways that the dogs traveled in the book.  We then designed and created a way for the dogs to travel in the snow.  Take a look at our vehicles!

News You Can Use

Dear Parents,

We only have a a few short weeks left of school.  This is always my favorite but saddest time of the year.  I get to see how much my Kindergarteners have grown, but will soon have to let them go to someone else’s care.  Keep practicing reading at home to get ready for First Grade.
