3rd Grade Class News

September 4th, 2012

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone enjoyed their long Labor Day Weekend.  It’s hard to believe that we are beginning our third week of school, and it’s still steaming hot! 

What Will We Be Covering This Week?

We will:

Read, write and count numbers 0 – 10.

Learn to recognize the letters Ff and Bb and their sounds.

Practice graphing and patterns.

Learn about butterflies.

Learn the rules of the classroom.

Practice writing our names on lined paper without tracing

Sight words me, my, go.

Sort objects by size, shape and color.

Bring A Bear To School Day:  In honor of the letter Bb, we will have Bring A Bear To School Day.  Bring your favorite bear on  Friday, September 7th  for:  sorting, graphing, naptime and just plain fun.

Scholastic Book Club:  I sent the Scholastic Book Order last week, but forgot to include the online activation code.  OOPS!  The code for our class is:  GY6QX. 

So far, we have two book orders.  I will extend the order date through Friday, September 7th

Fundations:  We will continue to work on proper pencil grip and proper letter formation.  We will learn about the letter B and F and their sounds.


Monday – Labor Day.  No homework. 

Tuesday – Handwriting; letter Ff.

Wednesday – Sight Word Wednesday, using the words “I” and “a”.

Thursday – Handwriting; letter Bb.

Friday – Read your poetry journal.  Don’t forget to send it back in on Monday!

Encore Schedule:

Tuesday- Guidance

Wednesday – PE

Thursday – Music

Friday – Art
