A. Are you citing all your facts?
B. Are you using correct MLA formatting when you cite?

The 10th graders are about to start the research paper process. They will need to utilize the databases that the media center website offers, so I’ve put together a short, helpful handout just in case you forget how to get there or which one to use. If you need more help with the paper, feel free to use all the resources available on our website HERE.

These students have not done their poetry presentation. It is worth a test grade. They can make up their poetry presentation next TUESDAY the 16th after school. If snow comes, then whatever day we come back will be the day they can make it up after school. Each presentation should only take about 3 minutes. Unless you were absent on Friday, this is the only day that make up presentations can happen. Please contact Mrs. Abbott or Mrs. Whisler if you have any questions.

There were about 11 9th graders who asked me to email their research paper outline home this weekend, but my computer crashed, and I don’t have access to my address book. Those 11 students will be exempt from the due date at the beginning of next class. Everyone else will be required to have his or her outline finished on these dates:
Day 1 Classes: Wednesday, Feb. 17th
Day 2 Classes: Thursday, Feb. 18th
You can download the format for the outline on my website HERE. Just scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the link that says, “Use this format for your outline.”

As we all snuggle up at home with our hot cocoa and favorite movies, keep in mind that we will eventually be heading back to school. Make sure that you are ready to hit the ground running…whenever that day eventually comes. Here are a few things that my 9th and 10th graders can keep in mind as they prepare for our great return.
♦9th graders: Finish reading Gathering Blue
♦10th graders: Finalize your research topic and 3 subcategories. Use the website HERE for any help you may need on choosing a topic. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have as well.
♦9th & 10th graders: There are reading and grammar activities available on my website. Click HERE and choose your class. Then choose “Reading Help” or Grammar Help.” Doing a little bit of review each day will help you make an easier transition back next week.
