2 A East Volleyball Tournament Information 2013

Not only is Goochland in the Quad River Conference 34, we are also a member os the 2 A East Region.  There are four conferences in 2 A East.  The four conferences & the schools are:

Conference 33: Arcadia, Bruton, King William, Maggie Walker, Nandua & Windsor        

Conference 34 (Quad River Conference 34): Amelia, Bluestone, Brunswick, Goochland, Greensville, Nottoway & Prince Edward                                                                                                

Conference 35: Clarke County, George Mason, Luray, Madison County, Page County, Stonewall Jackson-Quicksburg & Strasburg                                    

Conference 36: Buffalo Gap, East Rockingham, Nelson County, R E Lee-Staunton, Riverheads & Wilson Memorial

2 A East Volleyball Tournament will be held on Tuesday, November 12, Thursday, November 14 and Saturday, November 16.  Start times for the games is 7:00.  Cost for the games is $5.00 and again the GHS Family & Senior Citizen passes do not work for tournament games.

The two teams that make it to Saturday’s championship game both will advance to the VHSL  2 A semi-finals at VCU’s Siegel Center the week of November 20-23.

Volleyball Conference Tournament Information 2013

Goochland is in the Quad Rivers Conference 34.  There are seven schools in this conference which are  Amelia, Bluestone, Brunswick, Greensville, Nottoway, Prince Edward & Goochland.

The QRC 34′s volleyball tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, Thursday, November 7 and Saturday, November 9 with game time at 6:00.  The games will be played at higher seeded teams.  #1 has bye, #5 at #4, #7 at #2 and #6 at #3.

The seeds will be set after the final regular season district games are played on Wednesday & Thursday of this week.  At the present time it looks like Goochland will be #1 seed and thus would have a bye on Tuesday, November 5.  Once the seeds are set, the parings will be posted.

The top two teams from the tournament will advance to the 2A East Region Tournament will be held on Tuesday, November 12, Thursday, November 14 and Saturday, November 16 at 7:00.

Cost for the tournament games is $5.00 and the GHS Family and Senior Citizen passes do not work for tournament games.

1.  The scholastic bowl team travels to Bluestone for their meet at 5:30.

Tuesday, 10/29:

1.  The middle school volleyball team travels to Cumberland for their game at 4:30.

2.  The JV & varsity volleyball teams travel to Cumberland for their games at 5:30 & 6:30.

Wednesday, 10/30:

1.  The girls and boys cross country teams travel to Occoneechee State Park in Clarksville to compete in the Quad Rivers Conference 34 Cross County Meet.  The girls race starts at 3:00 and the boys race starts at 4:00.  There is a parking fee of $2.00.

2.  The middle school volleyball team hosts St. Anne’s at 5:00.  Cost for the game is $4.00.

3.  The JV & varsity volleyball team host Prince Edward at 5:30 & 6:30.  Cost for the games is $5.00.

Thursday, 10/31:

1.  The JV football team travels to Prince Edward for their game at 6:30.

Friday, 11/1:

1.  The varsity football team hosts Prince Edward at 7:00.  Cost for the game is $5.00.

Tuesday, October 22:

1.  The female member of the golf team will be playing in the Central Zone Girls State Qualifier Golf Tournament at Dogwood Trace Golf Course in Petersburg at 9:00.

2.  The middle school volleyball team travels to Collegiate for their game at 6:00.

2.  The competition cheer squad travels to Wilson Memorial High School to compete in the VHSL Conference 36 Cheer Competition at 6:30.  Cost for the competition is $5.00.  The teams that are in the competition are:  Buffalo Gap, East Rockingham, Goochland, Robert E. Lee & Wilson Memorial.  The top three teams will advance to the VHSL 2A East Competition on Saturday, November 2 at noon.

Wednesday, October 23:

1.  The cross country teams travel to Occoneechee State Park in Clarksville for the James River District Cross Country Meet.  The girls race is at 3:00 and the boys race is at 4:00.  There will be a $2.00 parking fee for spectators.

2.  The JV & varsity volleyball teams travel to Midlothian High School for their games at 5:45 & 7:00.

Thursday, October 24:

1.  The middle school boys soccer team travels to Fork Union for their game at 4:30.

2.  The JV & varsity volleyball teams host Nottoway in PINK OUT games at 5:30 & 6:30.  Cost for the games is $5.00.

3.  The JV football team hosts Cumberland at 6:30.  Cost for the game is $5.00.

Friday, October 25:

1.  The varsity football team travels to Cumberland for their game at 7:00.

Rt. 522(South) to Rt. 60;

Cross Rt. 60,  this will turn into Rt. 13;

Go 5 miles on Rt. 13;

Take left on Rt. 609; follow Rt. 609 to Rt. 360; 

Take a right on Rt. 360;

Take a left on Rt. 49 to Crewe;

Take a left on Rt. 460;

Follow Rt. 460 through Crewe;

Go about 5 miles down Rt. 460 from Crewe and take the Nottoway Exit;

Take a right off of the exit;

Bear left at fork in the road;

The school will be a mile on your right;

Athletic events for the HOMECOMING week:

Monday, October 14: Pajama & Skip School Day

1.  This is a teacher workday and the students have the day off.

2.  The scholastic bowl team travels to Randolph-Henry for their first meet of the season with the start time at 5:30.

Tuesday, October 15:  Nerd Day

1.  The JV & varsity volleyball teams host Buckingham at 5:30 & 6:30.  Cost for the games is $5.00.

Wednesday, October 16:  College Day

1.  The cross country teams will host Bluestone, Buckingham & Prince Edward in a cross country meet at 4:30.

2.  Chili Cook Off & Powder Puff Football game at the stadium from 6:00-8:00.

Thursday, October 17:  Super Hero or Movie Character Day

1.  The middle school boys soccer team will host Collegiate at the old high school at 4:30.  (Make up game from 10/10/13)

2.  The middle school volleyball team travels to Steward School for their game at 5:00.

3.  The JV & varsity volleyball teams travel to Central for their games at 5:30 & 6:30.

4.  The JV football team travels to Nottoway for their game at 6:30.

Friday, October 18:  Class School Spirit Color Day—Seniors wear RED, Juniors wear GOLD, Sophomores wear BLACK & Freshmen wear WHITE

1.  The varsity football team hosts Nottoway in the homecoming game at 7:00.  Cost for the game is $5.00.

Saturday, October 19:  

1.  The Paradise Luau Homecoming Dance will be held in the gym from 7:00-10:00.  Cost for the dance is $10 per person.  Tickets for the dance will be sold during lunches through out the week.
